You finish a set of fifty MBE questions, you score 55 percent, and your stomach drops. You think, I am going to fail. Let me tell you what that number actually means, because it is not what it feels like.
A practice percentage measured weeks before the exam is a snapshot of where you are mid-learning, not a prediction of where you will be on test day. People who score in the low 50s in early practice routinely pass. The number is feedback, not a verdict.
What the percentage is actually telling you.
It tells you which subjects to review next. A 40 percent in Evidence and a 70 percent in Torts is a study plan, not a character flaw. Sort your weak subjects and spend your time there.
It tells you whether you are reading carefully. A huge share of missed questions are not knowledge gaps. They are misread calls, ignored words like not and except, and rushing. Track why you missed each one.
It does not tell you your final score. The scaled MBE, the curve, and your continued improvement over the remaining weeks all sit between today's percentage and your real result.
So before you spiral over a percentage, ask what it is telling you to do next. That is the only useful question.
