July 2026 Bar Exam Update: Breaking the 65% Plateau in MBE Torts

If you are currently stuck between 60% and 65% in your Torts practice sets, it is not a knowledge gap. It is a system flaw.

The self-loathing is lying to you

The self-loathing is lying to you

I spent two years believing I wasn't smart enough. I was wrong. Here's what was actually happening.Hey Counsel,I wrote this because I remember exactly what this week felt like after another failing score report. I remember staring at those numbers and deciding the only logical conclusion was that I was the problem. The self-loathing is lying to you. That voice telling you you're not smart enough is wrong. That voice telling you other people "get it" and you don't is wrong. That voice telling you that if you were just more disciplined, more focused, more whatever, you would have passed by now is wrong. It is wrong, and it is keeping you stuck.I failed the bar twice. Both times, I completed 100% of BARBRI. Both times, I walked into that exam room thinking I was ready. Both times, I walked out shattered. The months after each failure were the darkest of my life. I stopped telling people I was a lawyer. I dodged every "when's the swearing-in?" question. I started apologizing for my existence anytime law came up.I decided I was the common denominator. If I had failed twice, the only variable I could see was me.Here is what I know now that I did not know then. The system I was using had a 34% pass rate for repeaters.Thirty-four percent. That means 66 out of every 100 repeaters using that exact system, studying just as hard and just as long, failed too.I was not the problem. I was using a system built for someone else's brain, someone else's life, and someone else's constraints. Here is how I finally figured out what was actually wrong. How to read your score report like a forensic analyst→ Look at your MBE scaled score. If it is below 130, you are bleeding timing, not knowledge. You know the law. You just do not have enough time to apply it.→ Look at your MEE scores. If they are "average" or below but you know you know the law, the issue is structure. Graders spend about 90 seconds per essay. If they cannot find your issues in the first 30 seconds, you lose points you earned.→ Look at your MPT. If you did not finish, you do not have an ability problem. You have a time allocation problem.→ Be honest about how you spent your study time. If more than 50% of it went to watching lectures instead of writing essays under time pressure, you were spectating, not training. That last one was me, one hundred percent.Once I stopped listening to the self-loathing and started treating my score report like data, everything changed. I was not "bad at the bar." I was bad at MBE timing and MEE structure. Those are specific, mechanical, fixable problems. What I did insteadI stripped everything down to what actually moved the needle. No lectures. No 400-page outlines. No more highlighting rules I could already recite.I did:→ 50 timed MBE questions per day to rebuild timing→ MEE templates for every subject to remove organization decisions under pressure→ Attack Tables for the 12 most tested topics only→ One MPT per week with a strict timerI did that for 22 days. That was it. On my third attempt, I passed.I was not unique. Since then, over 2,000 repeaters have used the same stripped-down approach. Working parents with 90 minutes a day. Test takers with ADHD who thought they could not focus. Foreign LLMs who felt behind from day one. They passed. The problem was never them. The problem was the bloated, one-size-fails-all systems they were told to trust. If you failed the MEEIf you walked out of that essay room knowing you knew the law but your score does not reflect it, I want to offer you something specific and concrete.Send me your MEE essay transcripts. I will evaluate them for free. Most tutoring services charge hundreds of dollars for this kind of review. I will tell you exactly where you are bleeding points, whether it is structure, issue spotting, rule statements, application, or time management. No charge. No upsell. Just someone who has been where you are, looking at your work and showing you the fix.Hit reply, attach your essays, and I will get back to you within 48 hours. If you are not ready to send essays yetStart with your score report. Treat it like evidence, not a verdict. Those numbers are not telling you that you are not good enough. They are telling you exactly where to focus next.If you want the exact stripped-down system that worked for me and for thousands of other repeaters, the Homestretch System is ready for you: www.yourlastbarprep.com Nothing to lose except the self-loathing.See what worked for 2,000+ repeaters →https://lastbarprep.gumroad.com/l/J26HomestretchRescue You are not the problem. You never were.ASA WOLFP.S. Elodie emailed me her essays after her second failure. She was hemorrhaging points on issue spotting. She knew the rules but buried them in paragraph four. We made one template change. On her third attempt, she passed. Your essays might tell the same story. Send them, and I will show you where the points are hiding.
